<![CDATA[Kristy Werner - Blog]]>Wed, 12 Jun 2024 17:13:07 -0500Weebly<![CDATA[My Word of The Year]]>Wed, 03 Jan 2024 16:40:48 GMThttp://kristywernerauthor.com/blog/my-word-of-the-yearI love January. It's a chance at a fresh start. A chance to look back at where I've been and look forward to all that could be. Of course, looking back on my goals from last year, I realize I need to be more intentional. Anyone else?

I've made "intentional" my word of the year. Choosing to be intentional makes me mighty nervous. But I need to face each day with the best intentions. I want to be mindful of everything I'm doing and make sure I'm doing everything I need to do.
Four things to do if you choose to pick a word of the year:
 1. Write it down. Want to be committed? Write it down. Then:
 2. Post it where you'll see it. You've heard the saying "out of sight, out of mind." Post it!
 3. Share it with others. An accountability system is helpful. It will help you to:
 4. Live your word. And isn't that the goal?
What's a word that you would choose? Focus? Joyful? Grateful? Confident? Let me know what you decide. Let's help each other live our words.]]>

<![CDATA[5 Great Things To Do At Christmas]]>Wed, 06 Dec 2023 22:17:07 GMThttp://kristywernerauthor.com/blog/5-great-things-to-do-at-christmasChristmas is a great time of year to mix family and fun. Need a few ideas to keep your family entertained while off work and out of school? Capture the magic of the season and try these fun activities.
 1. Decorate a Gingerbread House - Break the fam up into teams and make it a contest. The winner gets to pick the Christmas movie!
 2. Bake sugar cookies - I love to get out the cookie cutters I've collected for years and make all sorts of shapes. And the icing... OH, the icing! Be sure to let little hands help too. They wash. And so does the cabinet... and the floor. The carpet? Not so much.
 3. Take family pictures - Ask a friend, higher a professional, or use a tripod. If it's snowing, you get bonus points! Then see #4.
 4. Send Christmas cards - Use idea #3, upload them to your favorite online photo printer, and have everyone sign them in a festive ink color.
 5. Visit a Christmas tree farm! - There's just something romantic about a tree farm. And speaking of Christmas tree farms, I have a FREE novella for you! Subscribe to my newsletter and on Christmas Day, you'll receive a link from me to download your FREE copy of...

<![CDATA[A Skip Down The Yellow Brick Road!]]>Mon, 23 Oct 2023 05:00:00 GMThttp://kristywernerauthor.com/blog/a-skip-down-the-yellow-brick-road
A good time was had by all at our annual OCFW Writers Retreat! This year's event was held in Alva, OK at an Airbnb decorated in all things Wizard of Oz. Each character of the iconic movie had their own room decorated in their honor. The Wicked Witch's room was in the basement of course. But the creepiest thing about the house was the scarecrow in the living room.
Much writing was accomplished, and late-night sharing was beneficial. Shannon did a great job with all the food, and Sharon blessed us with a wonderful Key lime cake for dessert.
In attendance from left to right: Lynne Gullo, Shannon Pearson, Scarecrow (emphasis on scare), Sharon Srock, Chris Tarpley, Kristy Werner, Christina Rost

<![CDATA[Amazon Review for Redemption]]>Sat, 07 Oct 2023 22:03:10 GMThttp://kristywernerauthor.com/blog/amazon-review-for-redemptionI received this beautiful review and wanted to share...

Beautiful story that had me reeled in from the start. The story has such a powerful message of forgiveness and how even though it is one of the hardest things to do it can also free you and allow better things to happen in your life. This is the second book in the Tulsa Romance series from Kristy Werner and both books have been wonderful and uplifting reads.

<![CDATA[It's Great Having a Biggest Fan]]>Tue, 12 Sep 2023 14:41:23 GMThttp://kristywernerauthor.com/blog/its-great-having-a-biggest-fanMy mom has always been my biggest fan. When my first contemporary romance, Resurrection, came out, she told everyone. And I mean everyone. Including her book club. I don't know how much convincing it took because it's not the genre they normally read, but they read my book this past August. I was blessed to meet with them over the weekend. My first book club meeting ever! We had so much fun. I enjoyed meeting my mom's friends and answering all their questions about me and my stories. We even talked a little about book three that's coming out this October - Restoration! They're a great group of gals, and I appreciate them so much.

Not only did I get to attend my first book club meeting, I also got to spend the weekend with my family, something I don't get to do often enough. Enjoy these photos!

<![CDATA[WriterCon 2023]]>Tue, 05 Sep 2023 02:38:03 GMThttp://kristywernerauthor.com/blog/writercon-2023I was blessed to attend WriterCon again this year. It was like going to a family reunion. Many familiar faces, and many new ones making their debut. Tosca Lee and Lisa Gardner, both New York Times bestselling authors, were the keynote speakers and taught some classes as well. I had the pleasure of having dinner with Tosca, getting lost in OKC with her, and visiting the local CVS Pharmacy to purchase a hairbrush. We lived out a novel in the span of a few hours! Make sure to view the video on FB and IG.

Late night every night, yucky hotel coffee, terrible pillows, but the company was amazing. Motivation flew high, and I'm soaring with a lot of new marketing ideas. I'm paid up for next year and on the search for another writer's conference to attend. They truly are the best investment for aspiring authors. Not only do you get to pitch agents and publishers, but you get the benefit of networking with other writers and knowing you aren't alone out there.

And... you just might get to meet a celebrity.

<![CDATA[Amelia's - Tulsa, OK]]>Wed, 21 Dec 2022 01:59:05 GMThttp://kristywernerauthor.com/blog/amelias-tulsa-okBook 2 in my Tulsa Town Romance Series is underway. I'm about 75% through the first draft and making changes left and right. Don't worry. I'll get it all nailed down and on your bookshelf this spring.
The opening chapter begins on Boston Ave at a cozy table for two in the swanky Amelia's in the Arts District of Tulsa. The conversation and the company are anything but cozy though. Josh has issues. Poor guy.
I had the great opportunity to spend a weekend in Tulsa with my best friend, and we went to Amelia's for dinner. It's a great place I would frequent if I lived in the area. The atmosphere could be fun or romantic, the music was upbeat, but not too loud, and the food was wonderful. Our server, Jake, was helpful and polite. He got a nice tip. You're welcome, Jake. We sat at the kitchen bar toward the back of the restaurant where we could see the entire venue. The ambiance was fantastic, and everyone seemed to be having a great time.
So if you're ever in the area, I suggest the beef short-ribs at Amelia's. But if you run into a blond in a slinky green dress... run.

Resurrection is now available at your favorite online retailer! This beautiful second-chance romance is a story you sure don't want to miss.
I had a lot of fun writing this story. Nick and Quinn were so easy I sometimes forget they aren't real people! Their story just flowed out of my head and onto the computer screen. They dictated, I typed.
I hope you love these two. I'm waiting on pins and needles to hear what you think.
