I dreamed of becoming an author. In real life. I wasn't sure what that even looked like, but I ventured out several years ago to take a stab at it. With the help of some wonderful author friends, my husband's support, and a great editor, that dream is finally coming true.
This past weekend, I received validation. Oxford Languages says validation means "the action of making or declaring something legally or officially acceptable." Well, I think it's acceptable to say I'm official! My debut novel Resurrection won 1st Place in the Fiction contest at WriterCon. I can tell you now that I'm honored and blessed and that God is good. But when Bill Bernhardt announced "the winner is Resurrection by Kristy Werner," I was speechless. I dreamed he would say my name, even heard it in my head. But I knew, with over a hundred entries, not to expect it. I'm glad I was wrong. Resurrection will be available for the world to read on October 24, 2022. And I'm proud to say dreams really do come true.
